Care & Safety Instructions
Solar Zatka | Umiya Multitech & Control India
Proper care and regular maintenance of your Solar Zatka machine ensures long-lasting performance, operational safety, and maximum effectiveness in crop and property protection. Please read and follow these instructions carefully.
1. Installation Guidelines
- Install the machine in a sheltered, dry location — preferably under a shed or inside a weatherproof enclosure to protect it from direct rain and sunlight.
- Place the solar panel in an open, unobstructed area facing south (ideal for India) at the correct tilt angle for maximum sunlight exposure.
- Ensure proper earthing/grounding of the system as described in the installation manual. Weak or improper earthing significantly reduces the effectiveness of the machine.
- Maintain safe distances from water bodies, residential areas, pathways, and areas frequented by humans, as required by local regulations.
- Erect clearly visible electric fence warning signs at every 10–15 meters along the fencing perimeter. This is a legal requirement and a safety necessity.
- Do not install the fence near metallic structures, pipes, or other conductors that may carry unintended current.
- Ensure the installation is carried out by a trained and qualified electrician or technician.
2. Solar Panel Maintenance
- Clean the solar panel surface at least once a month using a soft, slightly damp cloth to remove dust, bird droppings, and debris. Dirty panels can reduce efficiency by 20–30%.
- Do not use abrasive materials, harsh chemical cleaners, or high-pressure water jets on the solar panel surface, as these can cause permanent damage.
- Inspect the panel mounting brackets and frame every 3 months for signs of corrosion, rust, or loosening — especially after the monsoon season.
- Trim nearby vegetation, bushes, or tree branches that may grow and shade the panel over time.
- Check the wiring connections between the solar panel and the machine for any signs of fraying, corrosion, or loose terminals.
3. Battery Care & Maintenance
- Store the battery away from extreme heat sources. Do not expose the battery unit to direct sunlight or temperatures above 45°C.
- If the machine will not be used for an extended period (such as off-season), fully charge the battery before storage.
- Do not allow the battery to remain in a fully discharged state for more than 48 hours — deep discharge can permanently damage battery capacity.
- Check battery terminals every 2–3 months. If white or greenish corrosion is visible on terminals, clean it gently with a dry cloth or soft brush.
- Monitor the battery charging indicator on the machine to ensure it is receiving adequate charge from the solar panel.
- Battery replacement is typically recommended every 2–3 years depending on usage frequency and local climate conditions.
4. Machine & Wiring Maintenance
- Inspect the fencing wire (output wire) at least once a month for breaks, loose connections, sagging to the ground, or contact with wet vegetation — all of which reduce effectiveness and can cause shorts.
- Ensure all wire connections, terminals, and clamps on the machine are tight and free from corrosion or rust.
- Check the energizer unit housing for cracks, pest intrusion (especially ants or rodents in rural areas), and water seepage.
- Do not attempt to open, disassemble, or repair the internal electronics of the machine. The unit contains high-voltage components that can cause serious injury. Always contact our service team for internal repairs.
- Keep the area immediately around the machine unit dry, clean, and clear of debris, hay, or flammable material.
- Check all insulators on fence posts periodically. Damaged or missing insulators can cause the fence wire to contact the post and create short circuits.
5. Seasonal Care Guide
Monsoon Season
- Inspect and reinforce the weatherproof enclosure of the machine before the rains begin.
- Check for water ingress or moisture accumulation inside the machine enclosure after heavy rains.
- Ensure earthing rods are firmly driven into the ground — soil loosens during monsoon and can affect grounding quality.
- Inspect fencing wire for shorts caused by wet grass or vegetation touching the wire — trim vegetation regularly during this period.
Summer Season
- Ensure the machine enclosure is well-ventilated to prevent overheating of the electronics and battery.
- Clean solar panels more frequently during summer due to higher dust levels.
- Check all rubber and plastic components for heat-related cracking or brittleness.
Winter Season
- During overcast or foggy periods, battery charging may be reduced — monitor the charge level and reduce operation time if needed.
- Condensation can form on wiring and terminals during cold mornings — check connections periodically.
- Ensure the solar panel surface is clean of morning dew and fog residue for maximum light absorption.
6. Safety Precautions
- Always switch off the machine before performing any maintenance or inspection on the fencing wire or the machine itself.
- Never touch the live fence wire with bare hands while the machine is active.
- Keep children strictly away from the fenced area at all times.
- Do not use the machine to fence swimming pools, water tanks, or any area routinely accessed by humans.
- Post warning signs in local languages at every access point to the fenced area.
- If you suspect the machine is malfunctioning — producing no output, burning smell, sparking, or visible damage — switch it off immediately and contact our support team. Do not attempt to self-repair.
- Do not connect the Solar Zatka machine to the main electrical grid or any external power source other than the supplied solar panel and battery.
7. Recommended Maintenance Schedule
- Monthly: Clean solar panel; inspect fencing wire and connections; check battery indicator.
- Every 3 Months: Inspect mounting hardware; check earthing rods; clean battery terminals; inspect machine housing.
- Every 6 Months: Full system check — all connections, insulators, wire integrity, solar panel output, and battery capacity.
- Every 2–3 Years: Consider battery replacement for optimal performance.
